COUNSELING SERVICESADHD Counseling in Sioux Falls
ADHD is not a character flaw, and it is not a lack of willpower. It is a brain wired differently, and with the right support, it is workable.
Whether it is your child’s teacher raising concerns, a teen drowning in school, or your own lifelong sense of “why is this harder for me,” ADHD affects the whole person and often the whole family. Krysta has dedicated years of specialized training to ADHD care and works with youth ages 10 and up, teens, and adults.
Is Any of This Familiar?
ADHD in Youth & Teens
Your child is bright, but the homework battles, lost assignments, and big feelings keep telling a different story at school.
Focus & Follow-through
You start with good intentions, then the task scatters: ten things half-begun, none finished, and the day is gone.
Family Strategies & Support
The same morning meltdown, the same homework standoff, and everyone in the house ends up frustrated at each other.
ADHD in Adults
You have spent your whole life wondering why things that seem easy for everyone else take everything you have.
Time & Overwhelm
The list gets so loud you cannot start any of it, so you freeze, and then feel guilty for freezing.
Emotions & Confidence
After years of hearing what you or your child does wrong, it is getting harder to remember what you do well.
Plenty of adults first recognize themselves while sitting in their child’s evaluation. That realization deserves care too, not a shrug of “well, you've made it this far.”
Support Built for How Your Brain Works
The way your brain is wired matters, and ADHD counseling at CFC starts there rather than with shame. Krysta uses creativity, humor, and practical strategies matched to how you or your child actually function, not a one-size-fits-all worksheet, integrating the best-researched and most innovative approaches available so the support you get is both current and effective.
The work is strengths-based on purpose. An ADHD brain that has spent years hearing what it does wrong needs someone who can also see what it does well, and build from there: routines that stick because they fit, communication that lowers the household temperature, and the rediscovery of the strengths that come with the way God wired you. Understanding your mind with compassion instead of criticism is where confidence starts to compound.
What Sessions Look Like
Practical and specific. Sessions dig into how ADHD actually shows up in your week: the morning routine that keeps collapsing, the homework standoff, the job that punishes your working memory. For youth and teens the work often involves the whole family, because strategies that only live in the counseling room do not survive Monday.
Sessions are available in person at the Sioux Falls office or online anywhere in South Dakota.
Common Questions About ADHD Support Counseling
-
Formal psychological testing is not something Krysta provides in-house. Her training is in evaluating diagnostic criteria, and she works alongside primary care doctors and testing providers rather than replacing them, because ADHD care goes best when it is collaborative.
Wherever you are in the process, she will help you sort out what makes sense for your situation, whether that is counseling support, a referral for testing, or both.
-
Both. ADHD does not end at graduation, and many adults recognize themselves only when their child is diagnosed. Krysta's specialized training covers ADHD from age 10 through adulthood.
-
Medication can change what is possible; counseling builds what actually happens: routines, family communication, and real self-understanding, not just symptom management, for a brain that has spent years being told it is the problem.
