This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website at christianfamilycarellc.org (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
This Policy Covers Our Website — Not Your Therapy Records
This Privacy Policy applies only to our website. It does not apply to the confidential health information we create or maintain as part of counseling or coaching services. That information — Protected Health Information, or "PHI" — is governed by our separate Notice of Privacy Practices (HIPAA) and by applicable state and federal law.
Please do not include personal health details, diagnoses, or emergency information in any website form or email. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.

Information You Provide to Us
When you fill out a contact or consultation form, or otherwise reach out to us, we collect the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of your message.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the site you came from, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies & Analytics" below).
Scheduling and Client Portal
To request or schedule appointments, our Site links to a third-party client portal (TherapyPortal, at therapyportal.com/p/christian57108). Any information you submit through that portal is collected and processed by the portal provider under its own privacy policy and HIPAA obligations, not under this Policy. We encourage you to review the portal provider's privacy practices.
How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your inquiries and requests;
- To schedule, coordinate, and follow up about appointments and services;
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- To send you information you have requested from us;
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and property of our clients, our practice, and others.
We do not use information collected through the Site to make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell your personal information.
Cookies & Website Analytics
Our website is hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace places a small number of cookies on your device so the site functions correctly and so we can see basic, aggregate traffic patterns.
Essential cookies. These are required for the site to work — for example, to protect forms against cross-site request forgery, to remember that you have dismissed a notice, and for basic security and anti-fraud purposes. These cannot be turned off without breaking site functionality.
Analytics and performance cookies. Squarespace's built-in analytics uses first-party cookies to estimate how many people visit the site, which pages are most viewed, and where visitors arrived from. This information is reported to us in aggregate. It is not used to build an advertising profile of you, and it is not combined with any clinical record.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party behavioral tracking on this website. We made this choice deliberately. Because we are a counseling practice, the pages you view here can reveal sensitive information about you, and we do not think that information belongs with an advertising company.
Controlling cookies. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Refusing non-essential cookies will not affect your ability to use this site or to contact us.
Appointment scheduling and the client portal are handled by a separate third-party service, which sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy and its own HIPAA obligations.
Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites and services, including our client portal. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information collected through the Site. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a breach of system security involving personal information, we will notify affected individuals and, where required, the South Dakota Attorney General, consistent with South Dakota's data breach notification law (SDCL 22-40-19 et seq.).
Children's Privacy
Our Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. Counseling and coaching services for minors are arranged through a parent or legal guardian, and information about minor clients is handled under HIPAA and our clinical policies — not this website Policy. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our Site, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Your Choices & Privacy Rights
You may ask us to review, update, or delete personal information you submitted to us through the Site by contacting us using the details below. You can also disable cookies through your browser and unsubscribe from any non-essential emails using the link in those messages.
South Dakota does not currently have a comprehensive consumer data privacy law. If you reside in a state that provides specific data privacy rights, please contact us and we will respond to your request as required by applicable law.
Email & Communications
If you contact us by email or through a form, we will use your information to respond. If we send you informational or promotional emails, you may opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in the email or by contacting us directly. Please remember that standard email is not a secure or HIPAA-compliant channel — do not send confidential health information by email.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Our Site does not currently respond to DNT signals because no common industry standard for them has been adopted.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the updated Policy on this page. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
